Job Description: 

The Production Helper will be focused in the packing of frozen bread into a box and will be responsible for the following job duties: work at a fast pace to keep up with throughput goals that support the production pace, work as a team to pull stacks of frozen bread out of the freezer and into the case pack work area, break down the stacks and stage them so team members can put them into a case, stack cases of bread onto a pallet following the specific pattern of the product, move finished pallets into the freezer for storage, take temperature of product to ensure it is frozen, document SQF required measurements on paper to comply with food safety. Load the case erector with boxes. Maintain a clean and safe environment by following housekeeping practices. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Keep up with the flow of production and timelines given in bake schedules. 

  • Follow instructions, respond positively to training, coaching and execute all applicable Standard Operating Procedures accurately. 

  • Be flexible and maintain confidence when changes arise. 

  • Work successfully with a team. 

  • Learn and perform sanitation tasks during scheduled down time. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 

  • Ability to communicate and understand instructions in English. 

  • Ability to operate machines in a safe manner. 

  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while working in a fast paced environment. 

  • Ability to learn and apply company standards including, but not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, GMPs, SOP’s, employee handbook, etc. 

  • Ability to follow quality standards and ensure those standards are met. 

  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (add & subtract), read instructions, keep records and deal effectively with fellow coworkers in all departments. 

  • Ability to understand machine functions and troubleshoot operations as needed. 

  • Must be capable of understanding work instructions both verbal and written. 

  • Requires ability to maintain focus on task at hand and not be easily distracted. 

Working Conditions/Physical Factors: 

  • Workers exposed to temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. More extreme temperatures possible during summer months. 

  • Worker exposed to a loud working environment. 

  • Worker exposed to hazards in the work place such as close proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current. 

  • Must be able to keep a positive attitude and high level of motivation in order to ensure the highest quality of bread all the time. 

  • Must be able to work continuously in a hot humid environment 

  • Must be flexible and willing to work any shift, time, day or holiday. 

  • Must be able to work in environment containing flour dust, wheat, milk and nuts (allergens) 

  • Must be able to exert force or lift up to 50 pounds constantly, must be able to constantly exert force sufficient to move objects such as tables, stairs mixing bowls. Etc. 

  • Must be able to push or pull 350 lbs. (fully loaded oven bread rack) 

  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairways, ladders and ramps. 

  • Must be able to stand for a long period of time, climb, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, bend and twist. 

  • Must be able to maintain a quick and steady pace throughout an 8 hour shift. 

  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately.
