The Design Team Associate II creates architectural drawings and project designs for a variety of construction projects, including new construction, remodels, and special projects. In addition, the Design Team Associate II will assist with researching project requirements, project planning, project design, and code research.


  • Creates architectural drawings. Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other disciplines to complete drawings
  • Maintains an organized file system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs special projects duties, including but not limited to; project research, planning, design, and code research. Performs field measurements to serve as a basis for take off work or for drawing development.
  • Uses informational interviewing to gather project needs from others, and incorporates into project designs and drawings.


  • 5 years experience of Architectural Design & Autocad in an Architectural and/or Engineering firm.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving with 7 years
  • Associates degree in Drafting & Design Technology.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • A working knowledge of applicable OSHPD and related healthcare design requirements.
  • A working knowledge of the latest editions of the CBC, ADAAG, and CALDAG.
  • Ability to ensure accuracy and completeness and to self-check own work.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
  • Ability to work closely with others and to use interviewing skills to obtain information to facilitate project designs and ensure drawing clarity.
  • Intermediate organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Knowledge of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
  • Proficient in all applicable software & hardware functions currently utilized in the department, and any others as they arise including, Microsoft Office Suite, Auto CAD, etc
