First Delivery is an on demand courier company specializing in the logistics industry. Currently we are seeking a driven, intelligent and resilient dispatcher and customer service representative with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and a track record of results.

We have currently for part time positions that will involve working weekends. The ideal candidate will need to have an open availability Sunday – Saturday. 

The dispatcher's job to make sure that each critical delivery happens on time and the customer is continuously informed of the progress of each delivery. Customers require minute by minute status so it is the dispatcher's job to know where every delivery is at any moment. The volume of deliveries may fluctuate significantly during the day so the dispatcher must be able to work with changing conditions and learn how to use his/her resources efficiently. Dispatchers are information processors; they deal with listening, interpreting, questioning, clarifying, verifying, and organizing information. Accuracy with numbers and detail, and the ability to multitask is a must.

Primary Responsibilities

The dispatcher dispatches packages using the contract drivers and a computerized dispatching system with multiple screens to identify, assign and document the progress of a delivery. Dispatchers must monitor deliveries continuously and follow the detailed instructions of the customer and explain these to the drivers. They must sometimes question to get precise detail about locations (which building, department, dock or door). 

Dispatchers must prioritize quickly and identify critical actions needed to deliver services required when faced with multiple demands. If necessary, they must identify and take action to avert a conflict in delivery order. Dispatchers may need to call additional drivers if peak demand requires or if drivers are suddenly unavailable due to an emergency. Dispatchers must coordinate with other dispatchers and customer service representatives and the operations supervisor or manager as necessary.

Dispatchers must be able to do all this without ever losing their cool. They must remain calm and helpful with all drivers, customers, and others in the process.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Assigning drivers to daily routes, vehicles, assets, etc.
  • Assisting drivers at load out
  • Tracking, assisting drivers in daily obstacles encountered, contacting customers if needed, driving out assets or other items to drivers, etc.
  • Keeping documents updated daily
  • Being a backup driver if needed (you will be trained in deliveries)
  • Assisting Management

Abilities Required

  • Ability to sort, prioritize, retain and analyze information
  • Ability to document relevant information correctly and completely.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately read and understand maps
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, use judgment and remain calm
  • Ability to sit for a full shift and use multiple computer systems and type (data enter) accurately



  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience at responding to complex and stressful situations and resolving issues positively.
  • High degree of ability to think strategically and problem solve
  • Experience in using technology; multiple phone and computer systems.
  • Able to follow standard operating procedures precisely and consistently; detail oriented
  • Knowledge of the Phoenix metro area and major streets preferred
  • Dispatch experience is preferred but not required
  • Delivery experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must be fluent in the English language, both verbal and written
  • No felony convictions within the last 7 years
  • Have a valid driver's license, insurance, and you must have a good driving record
  • No DUI's within the last 5 years
  • Must be comfortable driving cargo vans
