Full Job Description

7:00am-4:30pm 
M-F - Rotate Saturdays 

The metal sorter will support recycling operations by overseeing the process of separating various scrap materials. The material handlers will move material from one location to another and will also be involved in the process of extracting and loading the material to be transported. The right individual will be flexible as working hours may extend beyond regular business hours. Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Must comply with safety procedures and regulations at all times 

  • Sort, transport, pack, remove, and dispose of materials as regulated by law 

  • Assist in performing inventory on material 

  • Assist in unloading and loading customers 

  • Perform a wide range of physical activities including: pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling 

  • Lift up to 50 pounds 

  • Stand for long periods of time 

  • Uncontrolled work environment with expose to heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust 

  • Other duties as assigned Experience and Skill Requirements Required * Able to execute the essential functions and responsibilities of the job with or without reasonable accommodations 

  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and business leaders 

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment 

  • Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task 

  • Must be a quick learner; willing and able to operate heavy equipment (crane, forklift, loader etc.) Preferred 

  • Forklift experience and certification desired but not required as on-site training will be provided 

  • 1 year experience in either recycling and/or manufacturing environment preferred but not required 

  • Prior knowledge of metal identification is a plus

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience required
