We are currently hiring for a Production Shift Leader in the Corpus Christi area for this temp-to-hire position. You will receive benefits (health insurance, retirement, holidays and vacation) and a raise once you are hired on by the client company. The shifts are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mon-Fri or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Mon-Fri. Overtime up to 20 hours per week is common. Must be able to pass a drug test.

Job duties: Under general direction effectively develop, manage and motivate plant personnel to ensure coverage of workload and schedules while maximizing safety awareness, production efficiencies and production quality.

Educational/Experience requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of experience in a production and/or manufacturing industrial facility is preferred, or a two year technical degree with applicable experience as a combination of education and experience will be considered.

Physical requirements:
The employee must be able to lift 45 pounds overhead and 75 pounds from the floor to 36 inches.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Maintain highest plant operating efficiency meeting optimum production output and throughput rates.
 Track, analyze and report all production efficiencies (i.e., waste, efficiencies, non-chargeable downtime, etc.) to the Production Manager on a daily basis. Implement changes in operating procedures to improve plant efficiency and reliability.
 Continuously monitor the quality metrics to ensure product quality and variability meets the specification. Implement and enforce the Process Control to achieve quality uniformity.  Resolve customer complaints by participating in corrective action implementation and continuous improvement plan to sustain product quality and compliances meeting customer's satisfaction.  Understand and implement company ISO procedures and actively participate as process owner.
 Manage assigned area of facility by troubleshooting problems, providing plant with production efficiency information, preparing for special projects, makes recommendations involving repair or upgrades. Inspect plant equipment and call out maintenance technicians in the event of equipment malfunctions.
 Approves time sheets, equipment, labor changes and set priority on daily task for production personnel.
 Manage production equipment start-up, shutdown and changeover process ensuring maximum efficiencies while meeting or exceeding established standards.
 Implement, enforce and provide adherence to all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures. Responsible for station lockout/tagout procedures as mandated by company policy.
 Enforce and provide adherence to all housekeeping policies and procedures.
 Prepare and submit all required reports on a timely basis. Maintain daily operating parameter logs; ensure plant SOP and production schedule is followed.
 Provide "off shift" management to Maintenance or Shipping/Receiving departmental employees and report all appropriate supervisory information to respective managers/supervisors.
 Conduct informative tailgate and/or safety meetings with all shift employees ensuring established agenda is followed. Participate in all required accident investigations (providing accident investigation team leadership) ensuring immediate root cause elimination.
 Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities. Communicate production targets to subordinates and meet the goals and expectation.
 Participates in the development and administration of assigned program budget; assists in forecasts needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
 Participate in hiring and training of employees and provide continuous support for all employees with safety and task training. Train back up personnel in all areas of Shift Leader's responsibilities.
 Ability to read, write analyze and interpret general business and/or professional journals, technical procedures/ manuals, reports and drawings or governmental regulations.
 Good leadership skills to oversee and direct tasks performed by others.
 Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
 Knowledge of process control and basic mathematical concepts as they apply to practical situations. Ability to apply such concepts to interpret data as related to percentages and ratios.
 Ability to collect data, establishes facts, define problems and draw valid conclusions.
 Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
 Ability to clearly communicate either in writing and/or verbally to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members and managers
 Strong knowledge of safety practices, anticipation and prevention of unsafe conditions in a plant environment.
 Must be team oriented to effectively motivate plant personnel and use rational to negotiate multiple projects and work schedules in order to meet deadlines.

 Travel to other company facilities and perform any additional duties as required.
 Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed and ability to work shift.
